Play Along The Way | The Glen

The Glen recently unveiled Stage 3 of their major re-development, focusing on the Fashion and Lifestyle precinct, seeing the addition H&M, Uniqlo and our very own climbing structure on Level 1, near Target.

About this project

PlayOn worked closely with Vicinity to create something that was not only lots of fun, but spoke to the centres new aesthetic. The architectural piece drew inspiration from the angular pattern in the ceiling and the focus on greenery throughout the centre.

The leaf-like climber built upon a soft fall ground has a series of climbing ropes going up each leaf, acting as the “veins” and a series of ropes connecting each leaf together. This one will have children of all ages testing their skills.

The Benefits of climbing in play and the development in children are:

Spatial & directional awareness
Balance, hand & eye coordination
Gross motor skills
Working memory
Problem solving
Decision making & follow through

Peppered throughout the centre are these “Play along the way” stations, where a more tradition play is the focus.
While parents take a much need rest from a big shop, children are able to keep themselves occupied, navigating the coloured wooden blocks around the winding yellow pole.
