Beenleigh Marketplace is the centre of choice in Beenleigh. PlayOn worked closely with the centre team on their vision to enhance its community-focused environment by introducing a vibrant, nature-inspired, garden-themed playground. The playground will provide children and families with a welcoming space to relax, play, and explore, while also offering a break from the shopping journey. The goal was to create a dynamic play area that reflects the beauty of nature and promotes active, imaginative, and social play in an garden-inspired setting.

• Target Audience: Children aged 0-5/6 years.
• Physical Activity: Incorporate a variety of active play elements such as climbing structures, slides and balance elements, all designed with a nature-inspired aesthetic.
• Inclusive Play: Ensure the space includes tactile, interactive, and sensory-rich features, with easy access for children of all abilities.
• Safety: The playground must meet the highest local safety standards with soft fall surfaces, sturdy structures, and proper separation between active play zones.
• Design Aesthetic: The design should evoke a calming, natural atmosphere, blending elements of local gardens with vibrant colours that reflect the beauty of nature.
• Maintenance & Durability: Materials should low-maintenance, easy to clean and maintain and suitable for the high-traffic nature of a shopping centre environment.
• Integration with Shopping Centre: The playground should be designed in harmony with the surrounding shopping centre aesthetics, ensuring it complements the existing environment and does not disrupt the flow of foot traffic.

The garden-themed playground at Beenleigh Marketplace will provide a space where children can immerse themselves in nature-inspired play while parents relax nearby. The design will integrate structures, textures and interactive elements that stimulate curiosity and creativity.

Key Features Include:

• Climbing Structures: Custom-designed climbing forts that children can climb and explore with elevated platforms providing different levels of play with slides and climbing nets.
• Interactive Panels: Panels with tactile elements and learning features to engage children in imaginative and educational play.
• Nature-Inspired Balance Beams: Stepping stones or balance beams made to look like tree trunks or rocks, encouraging physical coordination.
• Softfall Safety Flooring: Flooring designed to look like grass or soil, with natural, earthy tones to match the garden theme while ensuring safety.
